Run Coaching
Whether you're new to running or are a seasoned veteran looking for guidance in training toward a goal race, we can help you navigate your busy life with personalized coaching to help you reach your fullest potentail as a runner while pursuing your goals!
Why hire a running coach? Do you think you're new to running or too slow to warrant hiring a coach? In most areas of life, being new to a skill is a great time to seek help!
Do you think coaching is too expensive? Investing in a running coach is invaluable in establishing a properly balanced, individualized training plan catered to YOU individually -- your fitness, life demands, time constaints, injury considerations and recovery, etc. -- allowing you to train efficiently and consistently. Hiring a coach can actually save you money in the long run, with more to gain than any product you could buy.
You are unique. No two runners have the same work and family lives. Running history, injury history and susceptibility; there are many factors to consider when developing a training plan. Don't settle for a general training plan from a Google search! Yonley Running strives to coach the holistic development of each individual runner. Basic strength training, nutrition and hydration, and recovery play a vitally important role in complementing the physical complexities of an effective training plan, and we will help to ensure your current training volume and goals coexist with your life goals and situations, while also doing our best to help you avoid burnout and injury.
The benefits of running extend beyond improving cardiovascular fitness. Think back to your earliest memories on a school playground. We naturally learned to run from the moment we could first walk! When we consider running as a sport, though, it does require techniques and skills to become efficient athletes. This applies to seasoned runners and those totally new to the sport.
Our #1 goal is to help you find joy in running! We will not simply hand you months of training and wish you the best of luck. We provide 2-3 weeks of training at a time, based on your current level of fitness and schedule demands, including direct communication with your coach throughout your training cycles. This allows us to work with you to continuously monitor and develop your training plan relative to real life conditions.
A full training cycle is approximately 3-6 months, depending on your current level of fitness and goals. We only require a month-by-month commitment, but do consider that progress in running isn't accomplished overnight. If you're ready to take that first step, you can expect the following:

FAQ's
Do I need to have a goal race in mind?
We work with all runners, whether that is toward a goal race or laying a foundation for development of a joy and love for running! We ask that you simply bring with you a willingness and desire to learn while exploring your abilities, with a commitment to both your coach AND more importantly yourself.
Do I need to live locally?
We coach virtually via Final Surge, Zoom, etc., so we are able to work with you from any time zone. However, local in-person coaching and instruction is available.
How can I get the most out of my run coaching?
Communication is key. Be willing to be honest and communicate with your coach. We can't read your mind! Let us know how your training is going and of any potential injuries and frustrations. You WILL at times experience discomfort and workouts that are challenging, both physically and mentally, but it helps us to know how you and your body responds and recovers to your plan so that we can make adjustments as needed!
My primary goal is to lose weight. Is this for me?
While we will consider all personal goals into the development of your training plans, we do not provide weight-loss advice or coaching. We highly encourage and coach the importance of fueling so your body can maintain adequate nutrition to train and recover properly. While we will recommend general nutritional guidance centered around fueling, we will not attempt to provide specific dietary plans.
